  2. Firefox has been criticized by users for not fitting well in Fedora Workstation. Although it improved with the new interface called Australis, it still doesn’t feel as native as GNOME Web (Epiphany). It’s not likely it will close the gap any time soon for two reasons:

(You know: the ones that rhyme with "Blue Cube", "Space Hook", "Sticky Media", "Quitter", and the like.) All you need to do is specify which sites to block and when to block them.

  8. You asked for them and now Mozilla’s Firefox developer tools team is hard at work building a slew of new tools for web developers. A few weeks back Mozilla’s Paul Rouget asked developers what they’d like to see in future versions of Firefox’s developer tools. The resulting thread on Hacker News is quite extensive and full of some great ideas that Rouget and others have been hacking on ever since.

  11. Credit where it's due: the way Google handled Chrome updates was very, very smart. They recognized that updates are one of the hardest things to get right, so they solved that problem first, before releasing version 1. The first release of Chrome was little more than an empty box of a browser, but it was wrapped around an excellent updating system. This let them gradually transform that empty box into a full-featured browser, without the users ever realizing they were getting updates.

  13. Mozilla's strategy is to advance a kind of HTML5 apps ecosystem based around principles that Mozilla will continue to promote, and centered on an apps store that can be used completely outside of Firefox. Although Firefox will continue to be included in the loop, Mozilla's approach may be its path to survival in a post-Firefox world.

  19. RSS makes it possible for me to check 100s of sites a day. I only actually implicitly go and read two, everything else goes through the RSS reader. If I didn’t have RSS then I wouldn’t bother keeping an eye on that many sites in the first place. Because me and you—dear technical readers—don’t have to suffer that routine anymore, it’s not reason that everybody else should. Bringing all the news updates straight to the user every day is a great killer feature that vendors should be waving from the fronts of their home pages! Browser vendors talk about their software helping users get the most out of the great ’Web; right next to “browsing”, RSS should be the second most important feature of browsers!
